Ex-national footballer dies

FORMER National footballer and hockey player Aldwyn Ferguson, died last Monday in New York. He was buried on Thursday in Brooklyn, New York, and a memorial service is to be held for him in Trinidad on a date to be announced.

Ferguson was a stalwart defender and played for his home club Palo Seco for many years.

He was a fixture on the national team for much of the 1960's and the early 1970's. He played hockey also at the club, the league and the regional level and for the national team during this period.

Among those who would have been his club contemporaries during his heyday would have been Edgar Vidale, Cecil Drayton, Bobby Sookram and Sonny Pope.
