Goal In Late 10-Minute Drive Earns Maroons Victory

Casuals with a late goal, edged out Queen's Royal College in a T.A.F.A. first leaguer yesterday on the Association ground by a 2-1 margin.

The first hald saw a tame affair with both teams' goal movements being overshadowed by defence players.

The Maroons put their best efforts forward, and Q.R.C.'s S. Cartey was most outstanding in the back line, but from a scrimmage in front the college's citadel, Hunter converted the first goal for Maroons.

Casuals did not keep their lead for long for the Q.R.C.'s forwards, going all out with K. Trestrail at the helm gave the Casuals' defence some very harassing times.

T. Gammond at centre-half helped maintain the pressure, and G. Farrell got the equaliser with a tame shot.

The see-saw exchanges resumed again, but Dick Trestrail at centre-half smashed most of the college's raids.

Maroons staged the more dangerous thrusts, and McMillan, the Q.R.C.'s custodian at times brought off some good saves to keep the scores unchanged a the interval.

At the resumption both Q.R.C. and Casuals raided each other intermittently, but the defences held firm.

In the last 10 minutes, Casuals in a late drive, with Rochford displaying a burst of speed down the right wing, gave the students the most uncomfortable moments of the game.

At this crucial stage with the match at a one-all deadlock, Casuals were awarded a free-kick in the penalty area, but it served no purpose.

Immediately after this, Dave deLabastide cut in from the left and converted.

Mr. Eden refereed.
