FYZABAD, Aug. 29 — Determined to turn the tables on Apex F.C., who had given them a 6-2 lacing at Mahaica on the previous Saturday, 3rd Battalion took the field at Apex on Saturday last with a colourful line up, including such Stalwarts as Gerry Gomez and Lionel Lynch of Intercolonial fame, also star B.G. player "Golden Boy" Rodriguez, but were beaten 5-3 in a S.A.F.L. Oilwell Supply Cup thriller.

Down 2-0 at half-time, the Apex-ites, ably led by veteran Ken Galt, upset all their calculations with a brilliant rally.

From the kick-off the soldiers got on the war path, registering their first goal within 10 minutes when Morris miskicked giving Rodrigues the opportunity to beat Blake with a tame shot.

Gomez, Rodrigues and Thomas were outstanding, and 10 minutes later, right-winger Waterman passed beautifully to Thomas who score with a powerful shot.

Apex defence rose to the occasion after this, Blake, Durity and Agarrat excelling, and the score was 2-0 till half-time.

The second session opened up at a very hot pace with Apex on the offensive. Galt, dribbling straight through from the kick-off, gave Sealy a sitter and the left-footer scored with a hard grounder.

But Agarrat then miskicked in front an open goal, and Thomas running up put his team further in the van by banging in the sphere. Score: 3rd Battalion 3, Apex 1.

Apex, from then took complete control of the game; Sealy converted another Galt pass, Galt smashed home the equaliser in the 44th minute of play, then racing through with a lone effort completely beat Clarke with a crashing drive.

Galt made it three in a row with another beauty.

Mr. J.A.R. Daniel refereed, and the following were the teams:

APEX: Blake; Durity, Agarrat; Morris, Score, Moreno; Harris, Heath, Galt, Sealy, Noble.

3RD BATTALION: Clark; Edmund, Reid; Ryan, Mitchell, Rostant; Waterman , Gomez, Thomas, Rodrigues, Lynch.
