[excerpt]

The practice game of football played at Bourds, Demerara, on the 12th inst., between selected teams—Whites and Colours—was productive of some enjoyable and interesting play, says the "Argosy." Rev. Mr. Salmon made his debut on the football field in Demerara. He played forward and gave no mean account of himself. He seems a clever shot, and he scored a goal for his side—Colours. Three other goals were scored for this team—by Slater, Wishart and Norton. A similar score was effected by the other team for whom Abraham, who played centre forward, rendered invaluable service, scoring himself two goals. The game ended in a draw of four goals all.
