PORT-OF-SPAIN (Trinidad): CONCACAF President Jack Warner on Friday assumed the Fifa vice president's post formerly occupied by Mexico's Guillermo Canedo.

The regional soccer body confirmed the move, following Canedo's death on Monday. Warner has been scheduled to take the post since CONCACAF changed its rules in 1994 to automatically appoints its president as the Fifa vice president.

Also on Friday, CONCACAF voted 5-2 to appoint general secretary Chuck Blazer to Warner's old seat on the Fifa Executive Committee.
