PORT OF SPAIN, Aug. 6:
Trinidad Football Association officials and the Referees Association are locked in a dispute following decision by the referees to silence their whistles after becoming annoyed over action by the Association to reject a recommendation made by the referees.
The referees named a number of its body as FIFA officials but the Association turned down one of the FIFA candidates and substituted someone else. Angered, the referees went on strike bringing first-class and other fixtures to a virtual standstill. A series of emergency meetings have been planned by top officials to resolve the impasse.
