The Los Angeles Aztecs upset Monterrey, the leader in the Mexican soccer league, 2-1, Sunday thanks to some brilliant goalkeeping by Kelvin Barclay before 12,249 fans at East Los Angeles Stadium.

Barclay, Trinidad's former national team goalie, saved the Aztecs' winning margin seven times during the second half with some brilliant saves.

Los Angeles scored first, nine minutes into the match, on a low shot by Uri Banhoffer into the left corner of the net. The Aztecs' second goal came when Jerry Kazarian tallied, with only two minutes left in the first half.

Monterrey pulled a goal back in the 79th minute when Basilio Salazar scored with a free kick from 15-yards.

Los Angeles will play three more international exhibition games this month before beginning league play May 5 at home against Seattle.
