CALI, Colombia, Aug. 7, (AP):

Trinidad and Tobago dropped a close 1-0 decision to Cuba in its first match in the soccer semi-final round and Jamaica remained the only Commonwealth Caribbean team with a chance of qualifying for the field hockey semis in Pan American Games action here Saturday.

The Trinidadian soccer team, bronze medalists in the 1967 Games at Winnipeg, looked listless against the Cubans in their match at Palmeira. They were clearly affected by the loss of Ulrich Haynes, their key forward, who was sidelined with a slight attack by dysentery and lost on a goal early in the second half.
