Transvaal earned the right to play Santos because of their victory over Maple — Trinidad's
champion club. Transvaal defeated Maple on a 4-1 aggregate, downing them 2-0 in the first match in Surinam and beating them by the odd goal in three in the second match at Port of Spain, Trinidad.
