Trinidad pulled off another shock in the World Cup qualifiers yesterday, beating visiting Mexico, 1-0, with a spectacular late goal by its captain, Russell Latapy.

Latapy, who plays for Hibernian in the Scottish League, sent a powerful 25-yard drive into the far corner of the net as Trinidad followed up last week's 2-0 victory in Canada with another upset.

Trinidad leads Group C in the semifinal stage of the qualifying competition for North America, Central America and the Caribbean with a maximum six points from two games, three more than Mexico.
