The U.S. soccer team earned a berth in Friday night's semifinals of the CONCACAF Cup in Los Angeles. After a 3-2 victory Wednesday, the USA is undefeated in three matches and will face Mexico.

Costa Rica, despite a loss to the USA, edged Trinidad and Tobago by one in goal differential to advance to the other semifinal against Honduras.

Hugo Perez had a penalty-kick goal and set up the winning goal to give the USA the victory.

After Perez tied it 2-2 in the second half, the USA was awarded a corner kick. Perez's kick went to Bruce Murray in front of the goal, but Costa Rica's Hector Marachena, trying to get possession, inadvertently kicked the ball across the goal line.
