U.S. edges Trinidad and Tobago - Joe-Max Moore's free kick in the second half gave the United States a 3-2 victory over Trinidad and Tobago in the CONCACAF Gold Cup at Anaheim. Trinidad's first goal came in the sixth minute after a weak pass by American midfielder Claudio Reyna was intercepted near midfield. Eric Wynalda tied it for the U.S. nine minutes later, heading in a corner kick deflected by Alexi Lalas. Wynalda, the most experienced U.S. player with 66 international caps, made it 2-1 in the 33rd minute, this time on a feed from Lalas. Moore scored the deciding goal in the 54th minute from the edge of the area on a free kick that curled around the goal post.
