Aston Villa striker Dwight Yorke is set to be sidelined over the busy Christmas period.

The Trinidad and Tobago international injured his heel in the 3-0 home victory against Coventry last Saturday.

He seems certain to miss Monday's match with Manchester United at Old Trafford and the home game with Southampton on December 20 - and may not be back until the new year.

Yorke, who has scored 45 goals in the last two seasons, has recently adopted a deeper role behind fellow strikers Stan Collymore and Savo Milosevic.

"For this to happen now is particularly frustrating because I was starting to enjoy my new role," he said.

"It was difficult at first because I was used to playing up front but things were starting to work for the team.

"It's annoying because it's not as if the injury came on from a challenge. I just started to feel this sharp pain when I was running."
