Hugh Myers Says

[excerpt]

FOOTBALL AND GOATS

While in Trinidad, Myers himself had little time to spare for cricket or football, which latter is probably dearest to his heart. And according to him the Trinidadians are probably the greatest sporting enthusiasts in the world. The standard of football there is high, and with only one first-league match each afternoon the enthusiasm is similar. From 4 P.M. spectators can be seen heading for the Savanah for a match that is played in front of the grandstand. Being open one only had to pay to the stand if he cared to, and this is packed to capacity each afternoon of a big league match.
