Nearer home the Casuals were crowned League champions of Trinidad for the 1938-39 season by winning two final matches of each division arranged for the championship. This was the eighth success of the club since the championship was inaugurated in 1908, having previously carried it off in 1909, 1912, 1913, 1920, 1929, 1934 and 1935.

They won the first final 2-0, and in the second St. Mary's School bowed to the bigger men 1-0 on Saturday, November 19. Casuals then were assisted by J. F. Merry (left-back) and C. Botha Tench (who now plays at centre forward), two members of the 1936 team to Jamaica. Jeoffrey Stollmeyer, the young Trinidad cricketer and brother to Victor, played at inside-right and scored the winning goal.
