Colony Not In A Position To Invite Out English Soccer Team

The Trinidad Guardian of Oct. 10 received by airmail last night publishes a statement by Capt. the Hon. J. O. Cutteridge M.B.E., Director of Education, and President of the Trinidad, Amateur Football Association that "Trinidad is not in a position at the present time to invite an English football team to visit the Colony." Reasons are two fold (1) Trinidad's football has declined to such an extent that an island side would not stand a chance against a third division English Soccer team (2) the Association could not finance "the visit of an English team; as attendance at matches has fallen to such an extent that fixtures are being run at a loss, and if there is no improvement in this direction the "Association will have to consider seriously whether they will be able to finance the Inter-colonial football team to go to Br. Guiana next year.
