RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- Atlanta's Chiefs broke through Baltimore's defense for three last-half goals Sunday and whipped the winless Bays 3-2 in a National Professional Soccer League exhibition game.
Baltimore took a 1-0 lead after only 26 seconds of the game had elapsed when Hipolito Chilinque, a small Brazilian, took a pass and drove an 18-foot shot from the penalty zone marker past Atlanta goalie Sven Lindberg.
The Bays held the 1-0 advantage until 6½ minutes of the second half had gone by when John Cocking booted a rebound past Baltimore goalie Franco Altieri to tie the score.
Everald Cummings and Ray Bloomfield kicked goals inside a four-minute span later in the period to put Atlanta ahead for keeps.
Nelio dos Santos' penalty kick 20 minutes before the end of the game gave Baltimore its second score.
