Dwight Yorke continued his scoring ways by putting two goals past Coventry in a 2-1 win on Saturday. The win, Villa's sixth in seven games, bolstered there chances of gaining a UEFA cup place next year. Yorke's first goal came when he was left unmarked and headed home his 12th goal of the season. His second was scored when he picked up a rebound from his strike partner Joachim and buried a bicycle kick past the Coventry goalkeeper. The win gives Villa 48 points and moves them up to eighth in the English Premiership table.

Marcelle watches as Barnsley progress

Clint Marcelle had to sit and watch on Saturday as Barnsley finally won a game in a bid to escape relegation. They defeated Sheffield Wednesday 2-1 to move within two points of staying up in the English Premier League next season. It is slim chance that Marcelle will be back at the Yorkshire based club next season. Marcelle has attracted the interest of two French clubs but is more eager to stay in England next year. (Late flash: Barnsley has lost to Newcastle United on Monday afternoon).

Rougier and Hibernian get big win

Tony Rougier and Hibernian were cheered off the pitch on Saturday after wining the Edinbourough derby versus Hearts 2-1. Rougier found himself a marked man but that tactic allowed extra space for other Hibs players to run at the Hearts defense. The win did two things. First it eliminated there cross town rivals from winning the Scottish Premier division. More importantly it moved Hibernian within six points of staying up in the league next season.

Across the channel...

Boavista could have used Russell Latapy in there starting lineup versus Maritimo on Sunday. They lost to the islanders 1-0 and sliped, for the time being, out of a UEFA cup place next season. Going into the game they were fourth in the league. After the lost, they tumbled down to seventh. However, with just three points and a few loses at the top will bring them back into the thick of things.

Leonson Lewis started for Chaves in there encounter with league leaders FC Porto. However, they fell 3-1 to remain second to last in the Portuguese First division.

Second Trini civil war breaks out in MLS.

What happens when you start four T&T players at the same time in a MLS game? You get a civil war and a exciting game. Ansil Elcock and Stern John both with Columbus faced off with Evans Wise and David Nahkid of New England. Columbus emerged 3-2 winners to move into top place in the East. The lost leaves New England winless in the young MLS season.

New Orleans find new T&T pair.

It was a double blow for New Orleans when they lost both Stern John and Mickey Trotman to MLS teams this season. In the search to discover a new strike partnership they once again dipped into the best source of talent in CONCACAF. They drafted Lester Felician from the development leagues in the USISL and brought in Gary Glasgow from local club Defense Force. They got there money's worth last week when Glasgow scored two goals and Felician one in a 4-1 win over Albuquerque. That was there second game of the A-league season, having lost 1-0 two days earlier.

In the shooting range...

Alvin Corneal has his first win under his belt in the A-league. The Raleigh Flyers defeated the Charleston Battery 1-0 in there season opener...It is a lucky thing that Shaka Hislop will be leaving Newcastle United at season's end. Newcastle has gone from good to bad to really ugly in the past few weeks and is in danger of being relegated at season's end.
