There was a large gathering of spectators including officers and men from the German frigate "Moltke" at anchor in the gulf, to witness a game of football which was played off on the "Casuals" grounds yesterday afternoon, between the 'Reds' and 'Whites.' Play was exceptionally fast, and many of the players were seen to advantage; the backing up being well timed. After a very exciting game, the contest ended in a victory for the 'Whites' of 4 goals to 2. The players were: "Red" team. . . Goal: T. Jackson, Backs: G. Owen, F. Brierly. Half Backs: T. Dewhurst, R. A. Swan, T. Coles. Forwards: G. Brierly, F. Newbry, J. R. Rochford, B. Logie, D. Anderson. The following played in white. . . Goal: C. Scandella. Backs: H. Davies, P. Gibbon, Half Backs: S. Harragin, J. Hoadley, W. Adam. Forwards: J. McLelland, B. McCracken, J. Hislop, W. Eccles and T. Ironside.
