Coach April Heinrichs of the United States national team was not kidding when she said her players would show no mercy in the Gold Cup. Cindy Parlow scored three goals as the United States, the champion of the World Cup, routed overmatched Trinidad and Tobago, 11-0, before a crowd of 10,483 last night in Hershey, Pa. The coach of the Americans had promised that her team would not back down in the opener of the eight-nation tournament.

Brazil had an equally easy time with Costa Rica in an 8-0 romp.
