PRIOR JONES, former Trinidad football captain made a triumphal return to Trinidad League games when he turned out for Maple in the key match with Malvern. Fourteen thousand spectators cheered the popular footballer-cricketer and hundreds rushed on to the field when he scored the deciding goal for Maple in a 3-2 result.

Jones is rated as one of the finest sportsmen in the British West Indies, but his return to football—even if temporary has posed a big question in sporting circles. When Jones was preparing himself for a position on the W.I. cricket team to India himself, Gomez, Stollmeyer and Ganteaume gave up football entirely. It is now being wondered whether he will not be available for selection on the coming W.I. team to England. It will be recalled that on his return from India he mentioned that he was extremely tired.
