Want Headly As W.I. Captain
Soccer Stars Not Playing Game This Season

[excerpt]

Although the football season is in full swing, Trinidad is sparing no pains to get herself in readiness to meet the Jamaican cricket invasion next .January.

Several of the Colony's outstanding cricketers, like Prior Jones, Gerry Gomez, Jeffrey Stollmeyer, Andy Ganteaume, Rupert Tang Choon, Nyron Asgaralli, Simpson Guillen, Derek Sealy, Bunny Butler, Lance Pierre, C. L. Pouchet, Harold Burnett, Kenny Trestrail, go down to the Oval on afternoons to have a "knock up".

So seriously are some of them taking the tour, that players like Jones, one of Trinidad's greatest soccer centre halves, Gerry Gomez, brilliant inner left, and Ganteaume one of Trinidad's soccer forwards, have given up the game this season, in preference for cricket.
