All-stars: two Rowdies

PORTLAND, Ore.—Central midfielder Rodney Marsh and striker Derek Smethurst of the Tampa Bay Rowdies were named to the North American Soccer League All-Star team announced Sunday by the Professional Soccer Reporters Association.

Marsh was joined at midfield by George Best of Los Angeles and Vito Dimitrijevic of the Cosmos; Smethurst, the second-leading scorer in the NASL for the last three seasons, is flanked on the forward line by Los Angeles' Steve David and the Cosmos' Pele.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Gordon Banks of Fort Lauderdale was named Player of the Year in balloting by the PSRA.

The All-Star defense lined up with goalkeeper Banks and defenders Franz Beckenbauer, Cosmos; Mike England, Seattle; Steve Pecher, Dallas and Steve Litt, Minnesota.
