TRINIDAD and Tobago on Thursday named a 20 man squad for the Shell Cup football finals to be played here from June 17-26.

The squad includes foreign based professionals Dwight Yorke, Russell Latapy, Clint Marcelle, and Leonson Lewis, while young players Anthony Sherwood and Angus Eve have also been added.

The inclusion of Yorke is surprising as there has been no confirmation on his availability from Aston Villa with whom he plays in the English first division.

Yorke was released by his club for the two World Cup matches against Barbados but was denied permission to play for the St. Clair Coaching School in the Caribbean Professional League.

A letter from Aston Villa's manager, Ron Atkinson, to Yorke's agent in Tobago, Neil Wilson, said the player had endured a hard season with both mental and physical pressures and needed a rest.

The Trinidad and Tobago Football Association said it wrote to Villa but had not yet received an answer.

The squad: Michael Maurice, Hayden Thomas, Clayton Morris, Dexter Francis, Dexter Lee, Kelvin Jones, Sherwin Julien, Kerry Jamerson, Hutson Charles, Marvin Faustin, Alvin Thomas, Anthony Sherwood, Russell Latapy, Russell Munroe, Clint Marcelle, Dwight Yorke, Philbert Jones, Leonson Lewis, Angus Eve and Alvin Boisson.
