(From Trinidad "Sporting Chronicle" issue of Sunday 6th inst.)
All going well two picked football teams from this Colony will tour the neighbouring Colonies during the next two or three months.
One will visit Barbados and the other Caracas. It will be remembered that in 1929 a football team selected from Maple Sporting Club, Shamrock and St. Mary's Clubs toured Barbados under the management of Mr. H. Lans with results somewhat detrimental to the football talent of this Colony. A further visit we gather is planned, and on April 29th next a side under the management of Mr. George Radix of Leon Mathieu and Co. will leave these shores for Barbados to play a series of matches there.
The team will be led by Mr. Mervyn Achong as on the first occasion and will comprise: M. Achong (Captain), St. Mary's, H. Wateman (Maple goalie), Arrindell (Sporting Club back), G. Agar (Sporting Club half), K. Aleong (Maple back), H. Halfhide (Sporting Club), R. Dolly (St. Mary's College forward), A. Daniel (Maple forward), A. Pouchet, (St. Mary's College forward), Chas. Mathieu (Shamrock forward), H. Steele (Sporting Club forward), Rene Leotaud (Shamrock forward) and H. Achong (Maple forward).
One of two additions are likely to be made to this list. On the last visit Messrs. Achong (2), Arrindell, Halfhide, Daniel and Mathieu were included while C. Roach and Ellis Achong will on this occasion be absentees.
The team in our opinion is in no particular direction stronger than the last side. We fancy it is more than likely to prove a weaker combination and encouraged by their victory in 1929; Barbados will leave no stone unturned in their efforts to repeat their performance of April last.
