Says the "Trinidad Guardian" of December 28: "Mr. Alfred Charles, the famous all-round Trinidad footballer, who left here a short time ago to improve his football and to become a professional, has scored his first goal in England.

"Instead of playing at left back, his usual position, Charles played at inner right for Burnley, and he gave a dashing display. Although Burnley lost the match against Liverpool by the narrow margin of four goals to three, Charles figured prominently.

"It is stated that Charles is getting accustomed to the cold and he will be more likely to give his best."
